If you are confident that you understand all the requirements of the various laws applicable to a business as well as the Income Tax Act, then you can set up your own business without the help of an accountant.

You should however take note that, if you consult an accountant at a later stage and changes or corrections have to be made, you will quite possibly be charged more.

It would be good practice to consult an accountant shortly after starting a business to ensure that books, and especially employees’ records, are kept correctly.

The accountant will be able to give advice on any matters of doubt.
